KRISTINE...GIRLFRIEND MATERIAL TALAGA!

SHE’s beauty queen material, many say. She’s soft-spoken, poised, and very mahinhin. She’s controversial because every male star names her as his crush, that’s why she gets linked to a lot of them. But she maintains her clean image just the same because wala naman siyang sinagot ever. She is Kristine Hermosa.

All eyes were focused on this girl during our shoot at the poolside of the Dusit Hotel Nikko in Makati. Her good looks, charming personality, and gentle, soft-spoken manner combine to make her so magaang.

Asked about her first crush, Kristine giggly recalls, “My first crush.. .tagal na n’un, e! Grade school pa ‘yun! I had a crush on one of the boys in school. Actually, alam ko na he also had a crush on me, but he never courted me or anything. Hanggang crush lang talaga!”

Eventually, Kristine admits someone did court her back then, but to no avail, “Grade 5 pa lang ako n’un,e. I felt I was too young. Ayoko pa talaga magkaroon n g boyfriend

Barely pausing to sip her cold drink, Kristine sails through the interview, question after question wit suc graceful poise. “I don’t have a boyfriend. I’ve never had one! I’m kind of scared kasi I have friends who go through so much heartaches because of their boyfriends, at d’un ako natatakot. As much as possible, I want to save myself from that kind of pain as long as I can. And honestly, my career is my priority right now. I don’t really have any time for a boyfriend at this point.”

Her advice to the thousands of heartbroken ladies out there? “Just let go. If he comes back, then he’s yours to keep. I know that sounds like a cliché, but it’s true! If the guy really loves you, and if he’s really for you, then he’ll come back. Marami pa namang mga boys sa mundo, e! Just let go, if he comes back, then good, pero if he doesn’t, I’m sure that someone else will come your way. It’s not your loss! Believe me! Hindi na uso ang martyr!”

But the act of being courted is not entirely out of Kristine’s mind. “It’s normal! Hindi naman ‘yun maiiwasan, e. In fact I kind of like it. Somehow it makes any girl feel special, di ba? Ayaw ko lang kasi yung guys na masyadong malakas ang dating. Alam mo na, yung sobrang showy! Yung feeling ba na makukuha ako sa pa-sikat lang. I don’t like that talaga. I’m an old-fashioned kind of girl. Gusto ko, the guy will bring me flowers and chocolates, poems, you know! Gusto ko rin yung ihaharana pa ako!” she smiles.

Her idea of a perfect date? While other girls prefer having a dinner date at some fancy restaurant, or to go dancing in a club, Kristine would rather stay at home. "I'm definitely a homebody, hindi talaga ako mahilig sa gimik. I don't want anything too formal or fancy, either because that would make me and my date feel very awkward. Gusto ko, the guy comes over to my house to have dinner with me and my family, tapos kuwentuhan na lang kami after. That way, makikilala pa siyang mabuti ng family ko." Kristine adds. "My parents' opinion matters a lot to me. And that includes their opinion on helping to pick out the guys who court me. They know what's best for me, you know."

On her type of guy? "Of course, number one on my list is gusto ko ng gentleman. Gusto ko yung simple lang, ayoko talaga ng mayabang at masyadong showy. It doesn't matter if he's rich or not, that's not important. Looks aren't that important to me, either. Gusto ko yung religious, sensitive, mabait, at may breeding. And of course, he has to have a good family background...And I would prefer if my mom liked him, too!"

But if there's one thing Kristine Hermosa is absolutely crazy about, it's her fans! "Thank you so much for all your support! Grabe, maraming maraming salamat talaga! I will try my best to do a good job for all of you! In the meantime, God bless all of you at maraming maraming salamat, po!" she gushes.

Blessed with beauty, brains, and a sparkling personality to match, Kristine Hermosa has all the right stuff, and we all hope nothing but the best for her and her career. She's got a long way to go in this business, and there's no stopping our girl from doing just that! Clearly, this girl has got what it takes to shine!
